Your Decisions Determine Fate of the World
I believe that people’s decisions tilt the world towards heaven or hell. I think there’s no more accurate way of describing the consequences of each of your decisions than that… You face potential, that’s what you face in the world: potential. It’s not material reality, it’s potential. And every decision you make, you’re deciding whether you want to make the world better or worse. The ultimate better is heaven and the ultimate worse is hell. We know how to make the world into hell, we’ve done that multiple times. Much of the 20th century was that. I looked at all that, and I thought, “OK, I would rather that the world didn’t degenerate into hell.” And I understand why people want it to degenerate into hell. They’re angry. They’re angry because they suffer, they suffer unfairly, and they suffer because people hurt them. And so they think, this is a bad game, I’m not going to help make it better, I’m angry, I’m going to make it worse even. That’s what the Columbine kids did. Now that’s what all the mass shooters do. They say, “to hell with this! I hate it!”[1]
If You Are Resentful, Say Something About It
If you’re honest, which is painful, you see that a lot of the things that you say aren’t real. You’ll see that a lot of the things that you do make you weak. You’ll see that a lot of the people that you associate with are probably not good for you. And then you have a lot of difficult choices to make. You can stop with the obvious lieing. That’ll clear things up for you a lot. And you can start communicating with people. One of the things I teach my clients is if you’re resentful say something about it. Say something about it. You tell the person ‘Look, what you asked me to do is making me feel resentful.’ Now, if they’re your wife or husband or someone you love, you should listen to them because they might say ‘Well, grow up. Take your dam responsibility and leave me alone.’ And maybe they’re right. Or maybe they’re a bit of a bully and you have to say ‘Quit pushing me around.’ Maybe you have to have an argument with them. An honest argument where you say ‘Look, this is what’s happening to me’ and they say ‘Look, this is what’s happening to me.’ And you battle it out until you reach some sort of settlement and then you don’t have to be resentful anymore. Then you won’t be mean and cruel and vicious. And you have to be honest in order to do that.[2]
“You make your bed and then you lie in it – and everyone knows it – and that’s not to say that you’re not subject to random and chaotic circumstances and the tragedy of life. Just because you can do some things doesn’t mean you can do everything. But you can do some things and if you don’t do them, then things fall apart. And the problem with things falling apart is that you will be happy about it, to the degree that you’re not trying to repair them. Because to the degree that you do not manifest what’s within you, then your life falls apart around you and everything that could make you bitter multiplies, until you’re in a situation where you want the destruction, you want to bring it on. And it’s not surprising. Because life can be so terrible that the question of whether or not it should exist at all can be a real question. But the answer to that is; is life so terrible that it shouldn’t exist? Well the answer is – it depends on how you live it. And if your life is so terrible that you can’t bear it, then it raises the question of whether or not you’re living it properly. And that’s not to say that people don’t suffer under burdens that are too great for them to bear – they certainly do, it doesn’t matter – because if you let that embitter you, if you let that destroy your allegiance to the proper path, all it does is make that worse and everything else – it’s no out.”[Citation Needed]
